Abstract

The sports community expects the principles and theories presented in the field of sports ethics to be able to solve some of the behavioral problems of athletes, coaches and sports spectators. The purpose of this study was to identify the ethical factors of Iranian basketball coaches and players. The present study was applied in terms of purpose and qualitative research using grounded theory (data theory). The statistical community consists of experts who have scientific, executive or both expertise in the field of sports management. In the present study, the opinions of 11 experts were collected during a semi-structured interview in a purposeful way until the theoretical saturation was reached. The reliability of the interviews was 0.85 using the intra-subject agreement study method. To analyze the data, continuous comparison method was used during the three stages of open, axial and selective coding. The results showed that 98 codes were obtained in the open coding stage and 11 axes in the axial coding. Respect and respect, rule of law, educational factors, financial responsibility, and managerial factors were identified.
