Volunteer management in sport: (the case study of Sport Administration of Tehran Municipality)

Abstract

Steps of recruiting personnel in volunteer sector and employees are the same, but in some items it may be different. The purpose of this study is designing the model of volunteer management in sport. The method of this study was descriptive-correlation. The statistical population were the managers and experts of sport administration of Tehran municipality (118 subjects).The statistical samples were equal to statistical population.  The researcher-made questionnaire consist of 8 dimension was used to collecting the data that its content and face validity was confirm by faculty members.Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient was used to test the reliability of the questionnaire (α=0.88).Path analysis used to analyze the data by SPSS version. The respondents were asked to indicate their level of agreement on a Likert scale ranging from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree). Results showed that, planning, screening, orientation, recruiting, training, recognition and evaluation were 69%, 38%, 58%, 48%, 52%, 71%, 75% effective on volunteer’s retention. Therefore, it has suggested to consider that volunteer management process and the effects of any dimension on volunteer retention specially evaluation and recognition.
