Abstract

Physical activity significantly reduces disease mortality and prevents many chronic diseases. However, the proportion of people who are sufficiently active globally is low and decreases with age. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a strategy for providing sports services for the elderly based on the ecological approach. The statistical population is the directors of physical education in municipal areas, the directors of public sports and the specialists and professors of sports sciences. In consumer section, the elderly living in Mashhad were used by the available sample method. Qualitative data collection was performed in two stages. first stage, based on the study of literature and background, the variables of the ecological model were extracted and in the second stage, the extracted variables were measured using interviews and questionnaires. Finally, a researcher-made questionnaire based on ecological model was used.
The results showed that the situation of individual, interpersonal, environmental and cultural conditions of providing sports services to the elderly is appropriate and the level of organizational conditions is not appropriate. Also, cultural factor with an average rank of 3.72, environmental factor with an average rank of 3.46, interpersonal factor with an average rank of 3.25 and individual factor with an average rank of 2.71 and organizational factor with an average rank of 1.87, respectively, have the most They are priorities, so for all participating seniors, the cultural factor has the greatest impact on the provision of sports services, and environmental, interpersonal, individual and organizational are in the next priorities, respectively.
