Validation of the Pattern of Strategist Competencies in Sports Organizations

Abstract

The aim of this study was to validation of the pattern of strategist competencies with a mixed exploratory research method. In the qualitative part of research, 12 elites and specialists related to sports were selected through targeted sampling and participated in the study. The statistical population in the quantitative section was all general managers; deputies of general offices of sports and youth and faculty members of sports management of public universities across the country (305 people), 179 people were selected using Morgan table by stratified random sampling. Interviews and questionnaires were used to collect information. Data analysis was performed using Charmez Constructing Approach grounded theory and Smart PLS software version 3.The results showed that the dimensions of individual, interpersonal-communication, scientific, specialized and managerial competencies had a significant role in explaining the structure of strategist competencies. Based on the model, it can be said that the general offices of sports and youth should use strategists with specialized competencies for better efficiency, more effective performance, and organizational success.
