Abstract

Talent management in sports increases success in championship sports and takes the position that people find their highest level of performance. Therefore, the aim of this study was to design an optimal talent management model for table tennis athletes. This research is applied in terms of purpose and descriptive in terms of how to collect data. The statistical population of this study included senior managers, members of the talent committee, talent coaches and academic table tennis researchers, whose number was estimated to be about 100 people and 89 questionnaires were returned correctly. The data collection tool was a modified questionnaire of Monazami (2015) which was designed inspired by the talent management model of Phillips and Roper (2009). Confirmatory factor analysis and Friedman test were used to analyze the data at a significance level of 0.05. Findings showed that the selection, attraction, employment, planning, development and retention of talent were the most important components of talent management in table tennis, respectively. Finally, paying attention to these priorities can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the athletes' talent management system in table tennis.
